Sister Alberta Ethel Grimm, 94, of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Dabville, Pa., died Sept. 6, 2010, at Maria Hall Residence of the Sisters of SS. Cyril and Methodius. She was born April 21, 1916, in Peoria, Ill., to George and Anna (Trausch) Grimm. She attended St. Mary’s of Notre Dame College at South Bend, Ind. She entered the Discalced Carmelite Monastery of Saint Teresa and Saint John of the Cross in Wheeling Sept. 24, 1937, and was solemnly professed May 11, 1942, taking the name, Alberta of the Blessed Sacrament. In the monastery, she served as prioress for two terms. In 1875, Sister Alberta moved with her community to the Monastery of the Sacred Heart and of the Holy Face in Elysburg, Pa.; subsequently in 2008, the Elysburg Carmelites relocated to Maria Hall in Danville. Sister Alberta was preceded in death by her parents and her twin brother, Albert; her brothers, Father Richard and George; her sisters, Ruth, Irene and Elizabeth. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in the Sisters’ Chapel. Interment was in the cemetery of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. |
